«If Leonard Cohen, Daniel Lanois and Neil Young did jazz, it might sound a bit like this.»
“With roots in jazz and branches extending into Americana, post-rock and indie, Norwegian band AADAL creates a unique and atmospheric sound. Through a wide spectrum of musical inspirations, they have found their own voice that is both touching and engaging. Aadal draws inspiration from masterful musicians like Brian Blade and Bill Frisell, as well as the atmospheric landscapes created by Daniel Lanois. Their sound universe is also closely related to newer bands like The War on Drugs and Bon Iver. This gives the music a modern touch, while at the same time being deeply rooted in traditional expressions.
The band weaves together complex melodies, dreamy harmonies and dynamic rhythms, creating a cinematic experience. Listeners are taken on a journey through vast musical landscapes, where moods shift from the close and intimate to the grand and soaring. Their music contains a subtle melancholy, but also a sense of hope and freedom, giving each song an emotional depth. Whether you’re a jazz enthusiast, a fan of Americana or a lover of modern indie, Aadal will be able to strike a nerve with you.”
