Wise Woman

A magical evening of song and storytelling in the Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton. Genre-bending folk quartet Wise Woman and double bassist Nina Harries join forces to present a night that blends powerful lyrics, bold voices, and transformative tales.

Wise Woman
Blending ancient folk traditions with bold contemporary flair, Wise Woman conjure a rich collision of lush harmonies, cinematic strings, and unapologetic 90s girl power. Their “startling and shimmering” (Folk Wales) sound draws on folk, jazz, and musical theatre, transporting audiences with tales of fenland witches, drag artists, and environmental activists. With performances spanning BBC Radio 3, Celtic Connections, and Secret Garden Party, Wise Woman are fast becoming a force in modern folk storytelling.

“Astonishingly gifted… Their lyrics are absolutely definable as poetry.” – FATEA

Nina Harries
Bassist, vocalist, and composer Nina Harries creates original works for double bass and voice, producing music that is both ethereal and grounded in a raw, modernist sound. Her lyrics, inspired by modern life, ancient prose, and feminist realism, are profound and often mesmeric in their hypnotic repetition.

Join us at Seven Arts for an evening that celebrates women’s voices, stories, and the power of song.
