Join historian Robert Dyson on a walk around New Briggate, to expose the Development of Leeds to the North of the Headrow from agricultural land to what we see today.
On this guided walk we will cover religion, transport, the “Grand Quarter of the New Briggate, the Heritage Action Zone , find out why “New” Briggate is so called and learn about the connection between New Briggate and the Princess of Wales.
The walk will start at the junction of Lady Lane and Vicar Lane City and finishes back at Vicar Lane. From here you can easily reach your cars or major public transport arteries – or indeed, restaurants, bars or pubs for further refreshments and socialising.

Environment: The distance covered is moderate but you will need to be prepared for frequent stops at points of interest along the route. Whilst everyone is welcome, and every care is taken, please make sure you are fit enough to go on a 1.5hr walking tour, and one which may occasionally pass over uneven ground or means negotiating busy stretches of the city. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear – tours go ahead in most weathers unless we feel that enjoyment will be severely curtailed, or – of course – conditions are dangerous.
