Join us for a family-friendly day exploring the incredible story of how engineering linked West Yorkshire and Sierra Leone in West Africa.

Activities will include:

a pop-up exhibition from the Friends of the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum

a display of models by William Bickers-Jones of locomotives made in Leeds for the Sierra Leone Government Railway.

a talk by Helen Ashby, Chair of the Friends of the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum – ‘Leeds to Sierra Leone – the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum’

a talk by John McGoldrick, Curator of Industrial History at Leeds Industrial Museum, – ‘Leeds’s Engines of Empire’, exploring the colonial legacies of the city’s links with Britain’s former colonies.
