The Things Around Us is a remarkable performance that defies traditional categorisation, weaving together darkly humorous true stories with an innovative musical landscape. Created by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Ahamefule J. Oluo, this show is a captivating journey through sound, narrative, and human experience.
Using live electronic looping techniques, Oluo creates an intricate soundscape using clarinet, trumpet, and everyday objects. The performance moves seamlessly between comedy and poignant storytelling, exploring narratives about other people, places, and moments in time.
This final piece in Oluo's acclaimed performance trilogy offers an intimate and inventive approach to live performance. Audiences can expect a show that is simultaneously uplifting and melancholic, profound and playful.
Part of the Transform 25 international performance festival, the show is supported by a grant from The MAP Fund and co-presented by Transform and the Howard Assembly Room.
