Daisy, a reluctant teaching assistant, is assigned a young Irish traveller to help with his reading. Amid phone calls with her grieving mother, a sexy plumber and whale noises, she finds hope in an unlikely friendship.
"Squidge" is a one-woman show by award-winning screenwriter and actress Tiggy Bayley about those left behind by our education system and finding love in a world determined to hate.
White Noise Theatre is a collaborative new writing company that creates theatre and digital work with actor-writers. Their work celebrates authenticity; nurturing, honouring and platforming actor-writers with important things to say and enabling them to say it in their own words. A White Noise show is a glorious combination of the rawness of verbatim with the craft of fiction. Their work has been performed at The Cockpit, Curve Theatre, Exeter Phoenix, Greenhouse Theatre, Omnibus Theatre and most recently Theatre503.
This production is in Co-production with Ray Productions. A West Yorkshire based production and PR company that supports new work and artists within the creative industries.
Here’s what audiences had to say about “Squidge”:
“A one-woman show with a lot of heart, a pin-drop performance and writing that tears you apart and stitches you up anew” - A Young(ish) Perspective
“Bayley’s energy throughout is incredible. We sit captivated in her palm waiting with bated breath at her every word. The pace is considered, balanced, thankfully not rushing through more tender moments and drawing out the mundane. The ingenious staging, simple yet effective, is also worth note, proving that not having bells and whistles isn’t preventative to good, if not great theatre.” - JKSees
“Moving, funny, sensitive, insightful… lots more adjectives”
“Incredible exploration of dealing with grief and finding worth in the world”
“Very touching, subtle performance”
“Absolutely loved the way the moments of feeling and seriousness were undercut by humour”
