The best night of short theatre in West Yorkshire is back.
Making a much-anticipated return, Slung Low Shorts returns with five new plays from both established and first-time writers along with a talented company of actors from West Yorkshire. The weekend of performances promises to be an essential part of the summer theatre in Leeds
With a deliberately unpretentious approach to theatre, the Slung Low Shorts team promise a night of ‘no risk’ theatre in the informal space of The Warehouse at Holbeck.
Co-Producer, Lisa Holdsworth, explains.
“We are a Pay As You Feel show meaning you pay what you think the show is worth at the end. If you don’t like one play, don’t worry. There’s another one on in 15 minutes. And if you really don’t like any of them, then you don’t have to pay at all. But we don’t think that will be the case.”
This year’s plays include political satire written by internet comedians Larry & Paul. An unflinching look at breast cancer from Alice Nutter formerly of Chumbawamba. A gritty crime with pensioner detective from Doctor Who and Severance writer James Moran. A modern rom-com featuring the ghostly presence of Anne Lister by Carole Solazzo. And a heartfelt play about family love by Barbara Holdsworth, making her theatre writing debut at the age of 83.
Come along for a night of variety and joy.
PERFORMANCES WILL INCLUDE STRONG LANGUAGE AND DISCUSSIONS OF AN ADULT NATURE. PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
