A journey of original choral music, featuring works by Kerensa Briggs, Knut Nystedt and Robert Schumann, as well as by members of the choir. Come with us on a musical voyage of longing and hope in the beautiful setting of All Souls' Church.

In this final concert of our 2024-25 season, we will perform the complete cycle of Nystedt's "Prayers of Kierkegaard", which we have been building up during the year, as well as all four of Schumann's songs for double choir. We also introduce two works by contemporary British composer, Kerensa Briggs.

Among these pieces, we will intersperse compositions by five talented members of Leeds Guild of Singers - Matthew Oglesby (composer of many works including the acclaimed "Penthos" requiem), Cassie White, Alistair Wood, Lindsay Robertshaw and our own musical director Benjamin Kirk.

You're in for a real treat at this concert - it's a rare chance to hear many works that you've never heard before, some receiving their world or Yorkshire premiere.

And the venue of All Souls' is worth a visit in itself. A regular venue for the Guild in the 1990's and 2000's, we are delighted to return to this magnificent church - designed by George Gilbert Scott in the Gothic Revival style, this listed building features original floor mosaics, stained glass and painted font panels. It is a wonderful space to enjoy a summer evening of choral music.
