Explore the vexing questions posed by a Victorian haunting

This talk will examine the historic account of the haunting that occurred at the Leeds Library in the 1880s, looking at the individuals involved in the case and why in fact a librarian needed a gun!

Fast forward to the 1960s, what did former president of the library—the controversial Trevor Hall—uncover when he re-examined the case? Assistant Librarian Anna Goodridge will make a fresh assessment of his findings and conclusions, before ending with a look at the enduring legacy and current interest in the haunting. She will also reveal some of the experiences staff have reported in recent years, and whether these may, or may not, be linked…

    Following a £2.3million investment in a next-door extension, the Leeds Library is now accessible. Anyone requiring level access may use the buzzer at our entrance next door to Cinnabon on Commercial Street. This provides access to a lift to all floors.
