Learn how to make your own stained glass inspired artwork using bright transparent coloured vinyl and playful shapes in by St John's Church in Leeds City Centre.
What you’ll make: A stained glass style artwork on A4 acetate for your window at home using transparent coloured and mirrored vinyl.
Join artist Fiona Grady to create your own “Stained Glass Effect Artwork" using transparent coloured and metallic vinyl. You will have the opportunity to see inside St John’s Church and explore its unique interior - where you will be making the artworks. Each participant will be able to experiment with creating their own designs using techniques to cut out and make dynamic vinyl artworks which they can take home at the end of the session.
The workshop is inspired by the stained glass windows in St John’s Church and the architectural design details of New Briggate which will help to generate ideas for your designs. The workshops are part of the New Briggate High Street Heritage Action Zone, a nationwide initiative run by Historic England aimed to bring new life to areas across the country including St John’s Churchyard.
Please Note:
The workshops are suitable for all ages. Children 16 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. You can ‘drop in’ to the event but we recommend pre-booking your slot to avoid disappointment on the day. We have a limited capacity number per session.
The event will be hosted at St John the Evangelist’s Church in Leeds City Centre a Grade I listed building. Please be aware that church is a redundant building without heating. We will provide light refreshments.
