Part of Leeds Palestinian Film Festival 'People of Gaza' Film Series, this is a triple bill definately worth seeing!

'Flying Paper' was made in 2014, but is even more poignant in the current context. It’s a story of young people in the Gaza Strip on a quest to shatter the Guinness World Record for the most kites ever flown. Co-produced with young filmmakers in Gaza, the film is intimate and direct, following the lives of a handful of young Palestinians in the simple act of making and flying kites in the desolate yet stunningly beautiful landscapes of Gaza. Directed by Nitin Sawhney and Roger Hill

'Return to Seifa' follows the progress of two siblings in the film, Flying Paper. Now young adults, they confront the aftermath of war, adapting to the harsh realities of yet another violent disruption to their hopes and aspirations.

Many young Gazans became amputees after being shot during t the 'Great March of Return', mass non-violent protests at the fence separating Gaza from Israel in 2018.  With respect and empathy, 'Gaza, One Football, One Leg' focuses on the courage and the energy of these young men.

20 year old Bahaa, one of many shot by Israeli forces, felt like he hadn’t just lost a leg, but his entire future, until he was approached by Gaza’s first amputee football team.

“I was depressed and worried I couldn’t work anymore…Before I was injured, football had been very important to me and I thought I would never play again…I had to relearn the whole game again, I was learning the basics with a crutch.”
