Join Leeds Festival Chorus for a choral journey with some of music's greatest storytellers.
Folk songs from Bartok and Ligeti will set the scene for an evening of entertaining and unusual music. Schubert's Song of Miriam is a dramatic retelling of the triumph of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea and witnessing the destruction of the armies of Egypt - a rarely performed work that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
Barber's Agnus Dei is a setting of his Adagio for Strings, a piece famous for its emotional harmonies. Finally. Elgar's From the Bavarian Highlands will transport you to the rural European countryside as it evokes scenes of dancing, lost love, lullabies, and a hunting party.
We're thrilled to be joined by soprano Tamsin Raitt who will perform songs by Schubert, Barber, and Quilter.
