Out of the Blue presents an evening of conversation between curator Dr Kerry Harkerand artist Richard Baker, generously supported by the Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society. Bringing together two leading voices from the region’s cultural landscape, the event will offer insight into contemporary painting and curatorial practice, exploring the ideas, influences, and processes that shape artistic work today. This is a free event and we expect a full house.
Dr Kerry Harker (https://curator.works/) an independent curator and researcher, is co-founder of several key artist-led initiatives in Leeds and has played a significant role in developing the city’s cultural ecology. Richard Baker (https://richardbakerpainting.com/) is known for his meticulous paintings that transform everyday objects into quiet meditations on memory, time, and material presence. Together, they will discuss Baker’s practice and its wider context, opening up a dialogue about the role of art in connecting personal experience with broader cultural narratives.
More details will be shared closer to the date.
