Dancing can be a great way to express yourself and connect with others. However, for those who are blind or visually impaired, participating in a dance workshop may seem like a daunting task. Fortunately, at Unbound Dance Theatre we have developed dance workshops specifically tailored for those with visual impairments and best of all they are free to attend in Leeds! 

These workshops often incorporate touch, verbal prompts and other sensory experiences to help participants fully engage with the music and movements and are suitable for all ages and abilities (no dance experience necessary!)

What to expect? 

Through movement and sound, participants will experience grounding, anchoring and breathing exercises inviting you to move and use different body parts through dance.  We explore improvisation, thinking about the way we move, the way we respond to music and to other people moving, and using our imaginations in the dance studio.

We also sometimes use an innovative wearable technology for sound and movement interaction called echome. It creates a sonic experience, that is totally unique, making sounds just through moving your body!

Enjoy freedom of movement, feel connected to your own body, and other people, gain trust and confidence and get a sense of connection, belonging and safety, mental & physical wellbeing.
