Idealistic poet Christian (Ewan McGregor) escapes to Paris to join the Bohemian revolution of 1899. There he is drawn into the sultry underworld of the Moulin Rouge cabaret club, becoming infatuated with its star performer Satine (Nicole Kidman); who has been promised by the club manager to a Duke in return for funding his next production. As the star-crossed lovers continue their affair in secret, a deathly final curtain looms that will change the course of their lives and Paris forever. With extravagant musical numbers set to some of the biggest tunes of the century, Baz Luhrmann’s grand spectacle is a gritty musical love affair to remember.
"A genuinely exhilarating experience. Moulin Rouge is like the best party ever, to the power of 10." - Film4
