Ailsa Read is a contemporary seascape artist. Her paintings are somewhere between contemporary and traditional, based on detailed observation, but also in trying to convey the spirit of the sea, recording its moods is a constant challenge,  and she always remains open to the possibilities of experimentation with different mixed media.

Being aware of the sounds, smells, and the way the light falls on the water gives her work an exciting and powerful approach to the paintings.
