Leeds artists and creatives are invited to pitch ideas for short-form film projects for broadcast on Sky Arts, as part of the LEEDS 2023 Year of Culture.

We are asking artists to submit ideas that respond to the question:

Future Perfect: What’s worth fighting for?

Five artists or artist-led organisations will be commissioned and mentored to create new, short films for Sky Arts through a unique partnership between the broadcaster, LEEDS 2023, Studio12 and The Space in association with Arts Council England.

This is an opportunity aimed at creatives in the city whose work has not been broadcast before and we welcome collaboration and partnership working.

We are inviting artists to explore ideas of the future and what values they want to carry forward.

You can interpret this theme however you wish – your idea may be personal or political, fact or fiction, intimate or epic. You may wish to create a piece of music, visual art, dance, drama, documentary, poetry, prose or animation to be captured on film.

We want this opportunity to reflect the diverse perspectives, creativity, people and ideas in Leeds and we are looking for ideas that are bold, brave and imaginative.

If your application is successful, we will provide bespoke mentoring to support you to make your short film and deliver it to Sky Arts. The programme has been made possible with funding from Arts Council England.
