Textile Screen Printing – 2 Day Course
Craft
Workshop
Adults only
Event organiser:
Leeds Print Workshop

On this 2 day textile screen printing course you will learn how to screen print using blank screens and paper stencils as well as how to coat and expose screens using the photo emulsion method. You will explore colour using textile pigment inks and learn how to mix colours for screen printing.

You will be encouraged to develop a range of different surface pattern designs using layering techniques with a focus on colour, shape and pattern. There will be time to learn the techniques and then experiment with the process to create a range of exciting outcomes.

What experience do I need?

This is a mixed ability course for beginners and those with more experience. Those with previous experience of screen printing may use the course to develop ideas and gain advice from the tutor, although experience is not necessary.

What will I make?

You will make a range of screen printed fabric samples using a combination of different screen printing techniques. You can also print onto plain products such as tea towels or cotton bags if you wish, so feel free to bring these along with you.

    Accessibility

Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible. By their nature, some printmaking processes involve an amount of physical effort. Leeds Print Workshop is based in a basement studio at Patrick Studios, a bespoke venue for artists operated by East Street Arts. It is wheelchair accessible, with a lift, larger than standard doors and accessible toilet facilities. We recognise that everybody’s accessibility needs may differ, therefore please email us at hello@leedsprintworkshop.org to discuss any concerns you may have before booking. There is one blue badge car parking space to the side of the building on Rider Street, subject to availability.

Please note: we regret that, for safety reasons, only those over the age of 16 will be permitted to undertake the course.
