Project Nimbus: Horses In The Clouds

Last weekend on a hot and sunny afternoon we spent two hours in a darkened room in Leeds Museum along with 250 or so other people. We were there to hear artist Dave Lynch and chemical physicist Mike Nix share the story of Project Nimbus, a mad-cap crazy idea to project moving images onto clouds from the ground, sea level and aircraft including: planes, paragliders & hot air balloons. Leeds Inspired had awarded the project a small grant earlier in the year and we were looking forward to seeing how Project Nimbus had evolved.

Think About Ink: Leeds Print Festival 2015

When you look at the range of events for this year's Leeds Print Festival its hard to believe it's only in its fourth year. Rather than resting on its laurels the festival has evolved its programme with each iteration, making space for a growing audience that's eager to get its mitts on print in all its forms; from traditional to contemporary printmaking.

Theatre Of Illumination

Following the much loved Momentous by Illuminos in 2013 Leeds Inspired are delighted to announce that Leeds based Omni Pictures will create a new projection, Theatre Of Illumination, to reimagine the front of Leeds Civic Hall into a vision of the future. Theatre Of Illumination will run for two nights on 2nd and 3rd October forming the centrepiece to the city’s Light Night celebrations on the Friday evening.

See What's Out There (On Your Bike)

In 2012 we commissioned four illustrators to respond to our strapline ‘See What’s Out There’. Each of the artists (Rabbit PortalJanis Goodman, Matt Ferres, Johanna Harma) interpreted the brief differently and the four resulting artworks included a magical lighthouse; a curious fox; a mad March hare; and a forest emerging from the city roof tops.
