In Pursuit Of Imperfection

Lee Goater Circles
They say you learn something new everyday and today's new thing is that there's no such thing as a perfect circle. Not even when its drawn with a compass. Infact you won't find a perfect circle anywhere in the universe because they only exist as a mathematical theory. Mind blowing stuff that's made me wonder if it's time we renamed them; maybe 'roundling' could be the new circle?
Fortunately for us artist Lee Goater has stepped up to the challenge and produced an exhibition of circles in Leeds' Central Library that's perfectly imperfect. All The Way Round reflects on the anomalies of life through a series of beautifully arranged prints, motion graphics and sculptural installations of almost circles. You can even share your own drawings of lopsided roundlings at the exhibition. Or, who knows, you might even be the first person to draw a perfect circle in the history of the universe.
All The Way Round is designed and directed by Lee Goater in collaboration with Alison McIntyre, Jonny Akers, The Print Project, Duke Studios and Papercut Bindery and is part of Leeds Libraries WordPlay commissions programme in association with Departs.
