On Thursday 29 November the former Tetley brewery building will open its doors as a contemporary arts venue for the very first time. The Tetley's first programme of events and exhibitions work to reinterpret with the 200 year old history of the company's industrial past and the community that worked in the building from 1931 - 2011. Fear Of The Surplus is a key part of that programme and will present a series of talks, films and performances that look at society's relationship to work, labour and welfare.

"I can’t pretend I’m one of those people who’ve had a life-long love affair with rugby or football. I came to both a bit late, thanks to two young sons who were starting to live, eat and breathe any game with a ball. So if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em! That was a step I’ve never regretted!

As the air starts to cool and smell of autumn, as the sandals get packed away and as the nights draw in Betty Lawless would like to transport you back to the beautiful summer of 2013. It's a whistle stop photo journal of all that she's seen – all in glorious technicolour, of course. For the full set of photos pop over to our Flickr Page.
