Passion4Fashion was a design project managed by Leeds Federated Housing that worked with 124 people to create unique catwalk outfits from second hand clothes. The design workshops took place in Kirkgate Market and brought people together from across the city. Leeds Inspired supported the project with a £5,000 grant.
All the participants were unemployed and this presented a unique opportunity to develop creative skills through work with professional designers, photographers and artists. Their stunning creations were displayed on a catwalk to a delighted audience of 1200 people at Leeds Town Hall in September 2012.
As a direct result of the award a new community group was established and levered in match funding of £13,500 to continue the programme and have formed a network of Housing Providers and Support Agencies in Leeds dedicated to tackling exclusion creatively through Art Fashion and Design.
