Yorkshire Sculpture International Symposium

This symposium will critically reflect on the first Yorkshire Sculpture International with a day of talks by artists, curators, fabricators and educators.
Bringing speakers together to explore the work that goes on behind the scenes to develop large scale and public sculpture for international exhibitions.
Discussions will include
The traditional and new technologies used in sculpture today
The role of collaboration with fabricators and specialists
The challenges of developing sculpture for the public realm and the current context of accessing sculpture making facilities and education in sculpture
Throughout the day we will consider the future aspirations for Yorkshire Sculpture International (the second of which is planned in 2023) and the production of sculpture in Yorkshire.

Rana Begum, Artist and Selector for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2019
Samuel Leuenberger, Director and Curator of SALTS, Birsfelden and Curator of Art Basel's Parcours.
