Writing surrounds us everywhere. We make notes, send texts and emails or chat on social media using thousands of written characters every day. But where did it come from, how did it evolve and what does the future hold for writing in the digital age?

Dr Peter Toth, Curator of Ancient and Medieval Manuscripts, will offer a behind the scenes look at the curation of the new British Library Writing: Making Your Mark exhibition with a special focus on how to display the challenging questions of the origins and early development of writing in a popular show.

The British Library’s Writing: Making Your Mark pop up display will be available to view as well as items from Leeds Libraries’ special collections dating back to the 15th century.
