Women's Voices in Film presents Hidden Figures
16 Jan 2019 7:45pm - 10pm
Women’s Lives Leeds, Heart & A Listening Space are collaborating to show a season of films by women writers/film makers as part of Centenary Celebrations of Women’s Suffrage.
This event will be introduced with a talk from poet, playwright and activist Khadijah Ibrahim. This is in celebration of how far women have come since getting the vote and to recognise the continued work of women to tackle discrimination and achieve equality of opportunity.
The idea to show films by women writers/directors is rooted in four simple principles:
- To show films made and/or directed by women.
- To show films on every genre - not just films about women or aimed at women
- To show films by women from all over the world
- To show films that attract a diverse audience
Please check times with event organiser for any last minute changes.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the film starts at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £5 and £4 concessions and can be purchased at the HEART reception and online. Please note that there is a small online booking fee.
Easy access for people with disabilities is a priority at HEART, and the centre features extra-wide doors, ramps, easy open main door, and a lift to all floors. Assistance dogs are always welcome, and we will always do what we can to ensure the centre is accessible to all. HEART is also proud to be one of the only centres in the north of Leeds with a ‘Changing Places Disabled Toilet’ in line with the Changing Places campaign. HEART is tremendously proud to have won the Community Benefit award at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Pro Yorkshire Regional Awards for 2014. We are a Child Friendly Leeds Ambassador, Disability Confident Employer and Mindful Employer.
