Explore Lotherton’s latest fashion exhibition, What Shall I Wear.
The return of evening wear marks a positive and welcome step towards enjoying life at its most fabulous. This year, the fashion galleries at Lotherton will showcase the changing styles, rules and occasions associated with eveningwear and what we consider it to be today.
Pieces on display will showcase traditional and opulent styles, as well as daring and eccentric formal wear, which all celebrate the theatre of dressing up after dusk. Highlights include dresses from John Bates (Jean Varon), Zandra Rhodes, Balenciaga and Norman Hartnell.
A key focus of this exhibition also includes a section on re-wearing and will include a film with contemporary views on eveningwear from people of Leeds.
