Thwaite at 30
21 Dec 2020 - 1 Dec 2021
In 2020, Thwaite Watermill celebrated its 30th anniversary as a museum. This online exhibition looks at the site's fascinating industrial history, its transformation into a visitor attraction and the exciting things which happen there today.
Since opening to the public in 1990, Thwaite Watermill has been a much loved place for people to learn about their shared past.
There has been a mill on the natural bend in the river at Thwaite for hundreds of years. Products produced there were varied and often surprising: from textiles to putty, via lubricants for sports cars and even food for local prisons!
Now a tranquil haven for wildlife and visitors alike, Thwaite Watermill has undergone many changes whilst remaining a constant presence to the community.
During this period of social distancing and lockdown due to Coronavirus we advise that you check directly with the organiser of this event that it is going ahead as publicised.
