Rejoice for the sun!

It is with great pleasure that we’d like to wholeheartedly invite you to join us from 12 midday on Saturday 25th June as we celebrate the Summer Solstice with an art market, face painting, nature-inspired workshops, interactive stalls and spoken word!

Come, let’s gather together, be joyous and celebrate the year’s longest day in the sunshine and celebrate the deep links between the environment, culture and arts.

We’ll be hosting an amazing wide variety of local independent makers, artists and workshoppers all in our homely, urban warehouse and outside yarden space.

Expect an art market with an array of sustainable local crafts alongside activities and workshops from 12 noon until 4pm! Followed by a delicious vegan meal from 4pm until 5:30pm for us all to share together, before we lean into the evening with an open mic!

The Summer Solstice represents the transition of action to nourishment, with the sun at its peak in the sky and the Earth closest to the sun. Let’s gather among the abundances of all that we planted during the work of previous seasons.

So, please join us, friends of old and new! Come one! Come all! Tell your friends, bring your family – let’s get together this Summer Solstice learn how we can thrive as a city together and honour the light with creative offerings, crafting, feasting and more!

DIRECTIONS
Address: Unit 1A Aire Place Mills, 143 Kirkstall Rd, Leeds. LS3 1JL

what3words location: ///struck.events.ridge

We are located on Kirkstall Road in Leeds – a little way out from the centre of the city – directly opposite ITV television studios (in the same complex as Seagulls Paint and Aire Place Studios).

We have very limited parking on site reserved for those who must drive for access. There is a car park directly across Kirkstall Road, outside Yorkshire Television, or some on street parking in that area if you drive. Please DO NOT park through the gates – that is not our yard, the gates lock, and we don’t have a key!

We are encouraging people to travel actively (walk, cycle or run) to the venue. We have secure bike storage and there are two toilets for changing (one of which is accessible).

You can also get here via public transport - the best buses from the centre of town are the 33, 34, 60 or A1 Flyer, and ask the driver for the stop outside ITV Yorkshire.

If coming by taxi from the centre of town, we are the next left after Kwikfit or from Kirkstall it may be easier to be dropped outside the ITV Studios.

Any problems finding us, please call us on 0113 2468975.

ALLERGENS

We have a small, busy kitchen and we cook everything in there, so whilst many of the things we cook do not have allergens in their ingredients list, there may be some traces, and we can’t make any guarantees. Most food will be vegan, gluten free and Open Source Arts is a meat free organisation, for climate and cultural reasons.

ACCESSIBILITY & FACILITIES

Open Source Arts is accessed via a slightly uneven floor outside. The main door is about a metre in width and 5 metres in height. There are 2 gender neutral toilets on the ground floor; one of which is accessible. The venue is split over two floors, with access to the upstairs (for the dance studio and cafe space) via a staircase of 14 steps with hand bannisters on both sides. The downstairs is accessible via wheelchair.

The market stalls and workshops will all be outside and downstairs, with the circus area upstairs in our studio. Food and drinks will be served from the upstairs cafe but can be brought downstairs for folk unable to take the stairs.

There are baby changing facilities in the ground floor accessible toilet, and you are welcome to breastfeed at OSA.

Hearing induction loops available for hearing aid users. If you have any accessibility questions or requirements, please let us know in advance if possible, and we will do our best to help.

COVID

Please do not come to the venue if you suspect or know that you have Covid-19.

Open Source Arts is a large, open plan, well ventilated building, set over two floors, and we keep both the upstairs and downstairs door open as much as possible.

Masks are welcome.
