The Spanish historian Enrique García-Hernán (Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, Madrid) speaks about the life of this philosopher and Spanish teacher who formed part of Henry VIII’s court, and who helped to educate Mary I, known as ‘Bloody Mary’.

Juan Luis Vives (1492 – 1540) was a Spanish humanist whose work serves as an eyewitness to the bond that, at one time, united Spain and England beyond the marriage of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon.

Free public talk in English. No booking needed.
