Although many people have visited the Royal Armouries in Leeds, they may be less familiar with the background and inside stories of the collections of national importance which are held by held by the Armouries. Dr Edward Impey, Director General and Master of the Armouries, will speak about the United Kingdom's oldest museum, and one of the oldest museums in the world - the National Museum of Arms and Armour. Its historic base is in the Tower of London but today the collection is split across three sites which also include the Tower of London and Fort Nelson at Portsmouth.
