Publicly Funded Minerals
5 Jul 2019 - 29 Sep 2019
Publicly Funded Minerals is a series of 48 collages by local artist Karl Vickers, co-founder of serf studios and gallery.
From Amazonite to Zircon, this series uses collage to (re)imagine crystals, minerals and gemstones as public sculpture. The materials appear in their natural state; placed into a landscape, atop a landmark spire or on a Billboard. Resembling design planning mock-ups, each collage is brought together in consideration of light and shadow, colour and scale in a playful manner.
This exhibition is part of Index festival and Yorkshire Sculpture International 2019 as well as being the first exhibition in Assembly House's newly refirbished bar exhibition space.
Please check times with event organiser for any last minute changes.
You are invited for the exhibition opening on Friday 5th July, 6pm-9pm. After that, the exhibition is open by appointment. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book yours.
Unfortunately Assembly House is located on the first floor with no wheelchair access. However, we are happy to arrange digital reproduction or video walk-throughs of exhibitions. If you have any questions please get in touch and a member of the team will be happy to discuss this with you.
There is a free, onsite car park.
