Professor Junjie Wu: Transforming academic career cross cultures
Adults only
Event organiser:
Leeds Beckett University

Junjie will share her 40-year academic journey, encompassing teaching and research at both a Chinese university and Leeds Beckett University.

The central focus lies in exploring the clash between Eastern and Western educational philosophies and pedagogical approaches, which manifest through distinct teaching styles, classroom dynamics, and the relationships between tutors and students. Junjie's reflection will highlight the challenges she encountered, her endeavours in navigating cultural transitions, strategies for overcoming these obstacles, and the synthesis of strengths derived from both cultural paradigms.

With the growing presence of colleagues and international students at Leeds Beckett University from Eastern cultural backgrounds, Junjie intends to facilitate the exchange of ideas and the sharing of successful experiences on this pertinent subject, to encourage individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds for a collaborative exploration of this thematic intersection.
