People Poems and The Silver Reserve
22 Jan 2019 8pm
People Poems is the alt-folk solo project of Leeds-based musician/songwriter Harry Orme. Under the People Poems name he has toured the UK and Europe, and has supported artists across the folk/indie spectrum including Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Big Thief, Emily Portman, Sam Sweeney & Pete Flood (Bellowhead), Ciaran Lavery, Luke Concanon (Nizlopi) and Adam Barnes.
“People Poems somewhat resemble a dream pairing of Antony Hegarty and Joanna Newsom… It’s powerful, soul-bearing stuff, a rewarding listen and possessed of an uncommon and individual beauty.” – North Leeds Life Magazine.
Matthew Sturgess, who performs as ‘The Silver Reserve’, plays delicate, sparse music on a classical guitar with songs about out-of-body experiences, monogamy, small-town community Facebook pages and much more. He creates dense, layered atmospherics. It’s music that doesn’t rush and takes its sweet, sad time to unfurl and sneak under the skin.
“Dry humour and anecdotes of awkwardness and heartbreak help create an intimate, playing-in-your-front-room feel. Quietly spellbinding.” – Soundblab (Live Review).

Easy access for people with disabilities is a priority at HEART, and the centre features extra-wide doors, ramps, easy open main door, and a lift to all floors. Assistance dogs are always welcome, and we will always do what we can to ensure the centre is accessible to all. HEART is also proud to be one of the only centres in the north of Leeds with a ‘Changing Places Disabled Toilet’ in line with the Changing Places campaign. HEART is tremendously proud to have won the Community Benefit award at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Pro Yorkshire Regional Awards for 2014. We are a Child Friendly Leeds Ambassador, Disability Confident Employer and Mindful Employer.
