Nature at Night is a commission by the British Library for Light Night 2021. An array of glowing lanterns, designed and created by The Lantern Company, will be displayed around Park Square and represent a range of wildlife from the UK. Two new lanterns have been specially made for Light Night 2021, a Long-eared Owl and a Barn Owl. These have been inspired by images taken from the collections of the British Library, celebrating the traditional symbol of Leeds in the city where the UK’s national library has had a presence for over 60 years. The lanterns are accompanied by a specially commissioned soundscape by composer Roma Yagnik, made using recordings from the British Library’s Environmental and Nature sounds archive.
