M&S Company Archive Kids Takeover
22 Mar 2019 - 30 Apr 2019
Part of Culture 24’s Let’s Get Real initiative.
Since January this year, a selection of schools and groups have been reviewing items from the 1900s to present day by working digitally with M&S Company Archive to curate a section of their Marks in Time exhibition.
Teachers across the UK have been supporting their lucky pupils to discover artefacts from different decades and undertake their own research to curate the items that they feel truly reflect the time period
Example items include toy tills, buttons and wartime Christmas cards, all of which have been shared digitally with students taking on the task of considering the purposes of the items and their importance. Alongside curating the items, the pupils have written captions to bring them to life for visitors.
The project is part of the M&S Archive’s involvement in a wider initiative by Culture 24 encouraging children to interact and engage digitally with archives and museums across the UK.
The free Marks in Time Kids Takeover Exhibition opens to the public on 22nd March at the M&S Company Archive in Leeds. Booking is not required, and the Company Archive is open weekdays from 10am until 5pm.
Please check times with event organiser for any last minute changes.
