Make a Hardback Book - Online Workshop
26 Jun 2021 1:30pm - 4pm
Join us from the comfort of your own home to make a hardback, pamphlet stitched book from start to finish.
On this short workshop you will explore bookbinding techniques to create a substantial and hard-wearing book format with a professional finish. You will learn how to stitch your pages, attach end pages and make a hardcover to complete your book. You will come away with an A6 hardback pamphlet stitched book.
Who is the workshop for?
This session is suitable for beginners in bookbinding. It would also be useful for those who’ve done some basic bookbinding already and would like to develop their previous skills.
Materials & Equipment
The workshop fee includes a full bookbinding kit containing all the equipment and materials you will need for the workshop which will be posted out to you shortly before the workshop date (postage is UK only, although international students may attend if they acquire the kit themselves). The materials kit will contain a cutting mat, craft knife, pencil, thread, bone folder, awl/piercing point, needle, bulldog clip, metal ruler, pva glue, greyboard pieces for end covers, bookcloth, newsprint and various coloured & white cartridge papers.
Our online workshops will be delivered by one of our experienced printmaking tutors over Zoom so you’ll need to have internet access on a computer and a suitable space to work with the cutting tools and inks.
The booking deadline is no less than 1 week before the workshop date to allow time for us to send out the materials kits.
If you have any questions about accessing the workshop please get in touch by emailing email@example.com.
This online workshop is supported with National Lottery Project Funding from Arts Council England.
During this period of social distancing and lockdown due to Coronavirus we advise that you check directly with the organiser of this event that it is going ahead as publicised.
