Lyrics Of Love

Dates and times

1 Sep 2012 7:30pm - 10:00pm

Show Map

This world-class event, a first of its kind, endeavours to establish the subtle but strong bond between lyrical poetry and classical music. The central concept is to intertwine melodious poetry with Indian classical music and western troubadours to cross cultural barriers.

Translations from Tagore and Gualib are set to the melodies of Indian ragas and verses of contemporary poetry are blended with kheyal and thumri, creating a colourful ambience and taking the audience into a universe of dream and illusion.

Chandra Chakraborty, one of the finest Indian Classical vocalists, will be accompanied by Kamalbir Nandra (violin), troubadour vocalist Erik Schelander, Luthfur Rahman (flute), Himanish Goswami (tabla), Sami Kergupta (guitar), Amal Podder (mandira), poet T M Ahmed Kaysher and other musicians - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_agCFpEpr0&feature=g-like.
