The Lost Ice House in Middleton Park - A Heritage Open Days event

Online Event
Dates and times

11 Sep 2020 - 19 Sep 2020

Online Event

Leeds Young Archaelogists Club enthusiastically share their excitement of discovering and sharing the history on their doorstep.

Middleton Lodge was built in the 1760s by the Brandling family and houses of that time nearly always had an ice house. The house is long gone but the ice house, which had been reclaimed by nature and lost to history, has recently been rediscovered and digs by South Leeds Archaelogy and Leeds Young Archaelogists have brought it into view.

The Friends of Middleton Park are active voluntary custodians of this 630 acre site just 4 miles south of Leeds City Centre; see their facebook page and website for news of their projects and events and new volunteers are always welcome. They also regularly welcome visitors to the Park during Heritage Open Days; this year they are hosting us online with this amazing film.
