Leeds Historian Dr Kevin Grady presents the fourth in our 2021 ‘Leeds in Your Lunch Hour’ lecture series, hosted jointly with Leeds Minster.

The Edwardian period in Leeds stands out as a brief Indian Summer at the close of a century of British political and economic pre-eminence in the world before the First World War. This lecture describes the character of the booming city between 1901 and 1910 – its industry, its transport, the housing of the working and middle classes, education, leisure and entertainment, the notable events, and its new flamboyant architecture.

Dr Kevin Grady is a leading expert on the history and development of Leeds, and is well known for his books and public lectures. He was Director of Leeds Civic Trust for almost thirty years until his retirement in 2016. Today he is a Council member of the Thoresby Society and is President of the Leeds Library. This is his 14th annual series of free lunchtime lectures about the history of Leeds, presented this year for the first time on Zoom.

Hosted jointly by Leeds Civic Trust and Leeds Minster.
