Leeds in 1819 - Part I: Holbeck to Briggate
Dates and times

22 Sep 2019 11am - 1pm

Show Map

The Round Foundry

Water Lane, Leeds, LS11 5WD

Two hundred years ago Leeds was in the thick of the ‘industrial revolution’. Who were the influential people and what were the main events of note? How were the townspeople earning their living and what were they concerned about? What was the state of health care, education and cultural life? How did people, materials, goods, energy and ideas move around? Where was it all heading?

Come and imagine yourself meeting the characters and seeing some of the places where they lived and learned, worked and worshipped, dispensed medical care, justice, credit or beer.

Meet next to the Welcome to Yorkshire office, behind the Midnight Bell pub in the Round Foundry, Holbeck.

The story continues after lunch (see separate event entry to book for this), or you'll have another chance later in the year to do Part II - from the middle of town to the West End.
