Online Event

Argentinian poet and translator Amparo Arróspide will be with us in this online event. We will be focusing on her figure and work, and she will be interviewed by Antonio Martínez Arboleda, lecturer at the University of Leeds. In addition, a selection of poems chosen by the author, and their translations into English produced by students from the University of Leeds, will be presented to the audience. These poems and their translations will be included in the 2021 edition of La Crátera de Ártemis - a digital space for the publication of translations of poetry written in Spanish into different languages of the world: https://www.artemispoesia.com/

Amparo Arróspide is a poet and translator. Born in Argentina, she has developed a good part of her artistic and professional career in Spain. In her recent work Valle Tiétar (El sastre de Apollinaire, 2019), she avidly questions anthropocentrism from an environmental perspective, using a fresh language of subtle resonances, as well as daring and effective poetic forms.

Antonio Martínez Arboleda is a lecturer in the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at the University of Leeds and Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Digital Education at aforementioned university. He is also a poet and translator. In his role as a cultural activist, his international university translation project La Crátera de Ártemis, the Poetry group Transforming with Poetry, which he also directs, and his affiliation to the Crátera Magazine, as a delegate in Great Britain can be highlighted.
