Missing your cultural fix? Leeds Art Gallery's new online exhibition…
Journey to Abstraction
3 Aug 2017 - 29 Sep 2017
We are delighted to showcase the work of artist Rachel Hinds in our porch gallery throughout August and September. The exhibition is an exploration of expressive brushstrokes and strong colours that suggest imaginary land and seascapes.
This exhibition showcases Rachel’s experiments with the painting process. With expressive gestural brushstrokes, drips and strong colours, this series of work suggests imaginary landscapes and turbulent seas inspired by natural phenomena and British history.
Rachel is a full time working artist from Brighouse in Yorkshire. Since studying archaeological sciences she has had a fascination with the past, which she describes as ‘a time when the forces of nature must have been awe inspiring and terrifying in equal measure’.
Rachel teaches painting workshops across Yorkshire and encourages her students to take an experimental approach to art. She’s always exploring new concepts and ways of working to create a sense of balance and harmony.
