Spreading the word about everything Italian, Tuscany Now invite you to a night devoted to one of European cinema's most iconic genres: Italian Neorealism.

The Library Pub will play host to an introductory talk about the style and impact of the genre with film lecturer Bryn Young-Roberts, followed by a screening of the quintessential neorealist film, Vittorio De Sica's 'Bicycle Thieves'.

Receiving an Academy Honorary Award, Bicycle Thieves has stood the test of time, appearing in Sight & Sound and BFI lists as one of the greatest motion pictures ever made. Depicting a postwar Rome rife with unemployment, a man gains a new job that offers salvation for him and his family.

When his bicycle (essential to his job) is stolen on his first day, he and his son must look for the thief throughout the city in a moving depiction of a nation recovering after being brought to the brink of destruction.
