Leeds Queer Film Festival and Non-Binary Leeds present two films centring non-binary people to celebrate International Non-Binary Day 2020:

Muxes (Ivan Olita, 2017), 09:23
This beautiful short documentary centres the voices of muxes, people who are not male or female, living in the indigenous Zapotec communities around the town of Juchitán in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico.

My Prairie Home (Chelsea McMullan, 2013), 76:12 (pictured)
In this feature documentary-musical, indie singer Rae Spoon takes us on a playful, meditative and at times melancholic journey. Set against majestic images of the infinite expanses of the Canadian Prairies, the film features Spoon crooning about their queer and musical coming of age. Interviews, performances and music sequences reveal Spoon’s inspiring process of building a life of their own, as a non-binary person and as a musician.

Both films have subtitles, and My Prairie Home can be watched with audio description. We'll update the descriptions with any content warnings within the next week.

The screening will be an online watch party using Metastream, which runs in your browser. To access the screening, you'll need a laptop with Chrome or Firefox, and to install the Metastream extension to your browser:
