Leeds Civic Hall

Millennium Square, Leeds, LS1 1UR

Without becoming a geologist, on this walk you can learn so much about what the city’s made of and why

Why isn’t Leeds built entirely out of local sandstone and brick? Where did other building materials come from? What IS that silvery shimmering stone used for some shop fronts? What is ‘Marmo’? How can learning about these things help us to understand more about the development of the city?

Meet: on the main steps of Leeds Civic Hall, Millennium Square. (What kind of stone is this?)
