Fatma Said returns to Leeds Lieder for her third recital with regular duo-partner, Joseph Middleton. An exclusive Warner Records Artist, alumna of the BBC New Generation Artists Scheme, and heard regularly on the world’s finest stages, Fatma Said has quickly established herself as one of the most exciting recitalists currently before the public.
As a recent 5* Wigmore Hall review in The Times reported: she “held the audience in the palm of her hand for two hours...Shéhérazade, was voiced with musky élan, Said confident in her smoky low range and pungent word-painting...she has intelligence in bucketfuls.”
Middleton and Said bookend their Leeds Lieder recital with exotic Ravel, first a trio of ‘oriental’ songs and, to finish, the ever-green Ravel Greek Folksongs. A folk element is also to be found in a group of Brahms songs. Late Schumann Lieder complete the programme.
