Dr Emma Storr explores the experiences of children working in Leeds 19th century factories and mills.

Dr Storr gave this talk in a 19th century Leeds mill last year and she has adapted it for an online audience. In addition to accounts of the hardships endured by very young workers, we will hear of the crucial role played by Leeds physicians Charles Thackrah and Robert Baker in bringing about the Public Health Act of 1848.
