As part of Trans Pride Leeds 2019, Our Space has teamed up with Trans Leeds to throw a very special event, that will explore identity as TPoC (trans people of colour). We welcome all our allies and QTIPoC family to join us in a calming, nurturing space with food and friends.

Head down to Sheaf Street for 6.45pm and make yourself comfortable in our cosy cinema space with included dinner and snacks. We will be treating you to a selection of wonderful short films from 7pm, as chosen by Our Space and our friends. This will be followed by the wonderful Melz Owusu, as they explore their heritage as a TPoC, with an empowering, insightful talk.

London based Melz is a transmasculine/ non-binary person. Their work is influenced by their identity; being Black British, growing up in South East London, being a queer transgender person, and by the black women in their life. They are an activist that works in a number of spaces such as; the movement for black lives, decolonising education, and trans visibility. Melz first rose to notoriety through the student movement and the ‘Why is my Curriculum White?’ campaign. They are a multifaceted artist regularly engaging in public speaking, writing, music, and poetry. Melz has shared their ideas and artistry with platforms such as TEDx, Huffington Post, and the Tate Modern. They are a regular at university campuses and have spoken on campuses right across the country and internationally including; Nelson Mandela University (South Africa), University of Maryland (USA), and Oxford University (UK).

This event is pay as you feel, we will have a ticket desk on the day.

Sheaf Street is an accessible venue. If you have any specific seating or accessibility requirements, please email ourspaceleeds@gmail.com and we will accommodate your needs.
