3 St Peter's Building, St Peter's Square, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS9 8AH

Why should we talk about gender? Why should we explore gender through dance? Does dance make a difference when we explore gender and related themes such as safety, power, hierarchy, agency, gaze, beauty, cliché, joy, pleasure and sensuality? How? And who gets to do it?

This conversation will propose different perspectives in relation to the personal research, creations, experiences or practices developed by artists during the 2 year Performing Gender project.  Facilitated by Joseph Mercier, artists Hannah Buckley, Sophie Unwin, dramaturgs Sergio Martinez and Tanya Steinhauser will be joined by others to talk about the exploration of gender within their artistic practices.

We welcome people from the LGBTQ+ and dance/arts community as well as anyone with an interest!

Part of Encounters a 2-day Pay As You Feel festival exploring gender diversity. Come along and join crowd a of inspiring dance artists from Friday 28 - Saturday 29 June.
