Comics Central & The LEGO Batman Movie
24 Aug 2017 12pm
For one fun afternoon this August the Picture House is proud to host Comics Central in conjunction with Thought Bubble Festival. With invaluable support from Arts Council England Thought Bubble are on a mission and they want YOU to get involved!
Thought Bubble Festival (18th – 24th September) is a magnificent celebration of comics and sequential art in all its forms. The marquees which house the festival in Leeds City Centre will be chock-a-block with comic artists and writers from all over the world, but at the moment the walls are looking a little plain. That’s where Comics Central comes in!
Join us to on Thursday 24th August from 12noon to create artwork which will be blown up in scale and used to decorate the entire festival site! To inspire budding comic creators we’ll be including a screening of The LEGO Batman movie as part of this great afternoon of making...and, what’s more, this event is totally free! Simply turn up at 12 noon to join in.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made "The LEGO® Movie" a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble - LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
Will Arnett reprises his starring role from "The LEGO Movie" as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis ("Muppets Most Wanted," the "Hangover" films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s "Arrested Development") as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s "Daredevil") as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the "Harry Potter" films) as Alfred.
DIRECTOR: Chris McKay
